Cyclone Michaung made landfall crossing the south Andhra Pradesh coast on Tuesday leaving its brunt to be felt in Chennai and adjoining areas in neighbouring Tamil Nadu. The extreme cyclonic storm made landfall between 12.30 pm and a couple of.30 pm on Tuesday.

Due to the extreme storm, Chennai can be dealing with acute energy cuts throughout the town. NDRF groups deployed in southern states

A complete of 29 NDRF groups have been deployed in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Puducherry to undertake aid and rescue operations within the wake of the extreme cyclonic storm Michaung hurtling down India’s jap coast on Tuesday. Fourteen National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) groups have been deployed in Tamil Nadu (5 in Chennai), 11 in Andhra Pradesh, one in Telangana and three in Puducherry. The NDRF can be ready to launch rescue and aid operations for the affected individuals who could possibly be stranded, officers added.
